Mcmurtry's Comparison To The Game Of Football

Decent Essays
McMurtry uses several different comparisons to the game of football in his essay (i.e: war, hockey, and circus). Are all of these equally effective in developing his argument and are there any other good comparisons he did not use?
The author places many parenthesis throughout his text and some appear necessary while others do not. How may a statement contained within parenthesis be deemed necessary or unnecessary?
What is your initial reaction to reading the title? (preferably the reaction from before reading but this may be forgotten and so an explanation of the meaning of the title should suffice)
