The company that I chose to complete my research paper on, is CVS. In the last few years, CVS has made a mark across the country with their strategic plans and combining forces with Target and several health care providers. A strategic alliance exists whenever two or more independent organizations cooperate in the development, manufacture, or sale of products and services (Barnes, p. 248). The strategic alliances that they have made will allow them to share resources and benefit from one another’s business. The goal that CVS and other care providers are working towards is beneficiaries to have better decisions on or prescriptions and plans.…

In reviewing the current delivery process, I immediately noticed that Spartan seems to have the same ship methods for every customer. While it may be easier for the transportation department to have a single shipping process, it is not necessarily the best move for our business. Spartan is shipping both local and rural orders via highway transport. Given the number of customers who often ask us to ship to multiple locations and the sheer number of orders in a given month, that equates to a lot of trucks on the road at any time. The company is wasting money on less than truckload (LTL) shipments in addition to shipping all orders by way of highway transport.…

Each store that was opened was directly because of the distribution strategy—the criteria for stores’ locations were that it should be low rent, suburban area, and on or very close to a highway.…
