Modern methods of advertising have become increasingly more questionable on the effects it has on the general public. The essay “Happy Meals and the Old Spice Guy” by Joanna Weiss focuses on the effects marketing tactics and advertising have on an average consumer. According to Weiss, advertising is not just limited to basic commercials and ads, but they also rely heavily on store placement, packaging, and associations of the brand. The article “Like me, Want me, Buy me, Eat me” by Sandra C Jones, Nadia Mannino and Julia Green also discusses deceptive marketing techniques. Why do these corporations spend millions on marketing every year in the most intrusive tactics?…

Predictability is the act of predicting what to anticipate when the you have experienced something before. It shows a uniform among things allows us to know what to expect even though we are attending a different location the experience should be the same. For example, being able to find a burger you purchased at the local McDonalds in Terrell should be easy enough to find it representing the same number at another location. The Greatest Movie Ever Sold I think that Morgan Spurlock took a risk by making this film on this topic. Speaking out against big and important companies seems to be a danger thing especially nowadays where commercials are everywhere and anytime. There are some companies that are very important and have influence from around the world like Nike and Cocoa-Cola. His film started by commercials in some place where ads are everywhere. There were ads in buildings, busses, taxis, movies, and even in restrooms.…

In the United States with the first amendment most advertising and similar topics cannot be overly controlled. You see this in other advertisement subjects like “Creating a fantasy setting where patriotic dreams are substituted for complicated realities, the Lazer Tag commercials sought to capture the imaginations of children caught up in the patriotic fervor of the early 1980s.” (Solomon 406). This also shows that businesses have been taking advantage of consumers for the better part of the advertising age. This is all goes back to the impact of the advertisement.…

So they attract this market by placing ads wherever they may be. For example sporting events, you see companies like Doritos place ads on different contestant uniforms, even though that person wearing the uniform may not even eat the product, but the person watching that particular event is watching and while watching is want to indulge in a pack of Doritos. Even in grocery store, Target is offering a free bag of chips with the purchase of a game, Call of Duty ( Dan Seitz, 2014).
