The resort hotels mainly rely on the attractive natural environment to make profits. In contrast the consumption of water, lighting, heating, laundry and the spa facilities have significant impact on the environment (Hsieh & Jeon, 2010, p. 4).
Sustainable procurement methods provide variety of benefits to the host communities (Awodele et al,
2010, p. 4). Adopting the sustainability approach leads to maximisation of profits, minimises the energy consumption, develops health and safety and also reduces all kinds of wastes (Bashir et al, 2010). The purpose of the sustainable approach is to offer a suitable level of living for today's generation alongside considering the next generations' needs in terms of three basic aspects namely; "environmental protection, economic development, and social equity" (Brundtland, 1987, cited in Hsieh and Jeon, 2010, p. 3).
