It’s not a secret that majority of Americans try to pay as little as possible for a good quality product. In the case of McDonalds, they maintained steady low prices to satisfy the growing wants and needs of their customers. According to the corporation, the cost of labor was slashed in two and profits grew to $350,000 a year by the mid 1900’s, the brothers saw their profits doubling (Klein). Yearning for a higher return, McDonalds would need a concrete idea to continue the return of more customers to maximize even more profit. McDonalds figured if they could draw in more attention from children they could use it build more business because there would be more profit coming. Children are considered to be the rainbow which leads to an endless pot of gold in terms of a commodity chain. Why? Children are among one the biggest consumers because they constantly desire more and ultimately never satisfied. Children are like a circle within a commodity chain because they continuously keep going around to consume. Within the American society, parents have a perception to give their child anything he or she desires because this is the meaning of being a good parent. With the perception of society working in the favor of McDonalds, the corporation couldn’t resist targeting children. People not only needed low prices for convenience but they wanted their fast food restaurants to be in arms reach. McDonalds try’s their best to have their restaurant in many areas so they can please their customers. McDonald’s locations not only satisfies its customers with convenience but also shuts down local neighboring competition in the same process. They basically kill two birds with one stone. McDonalds says their location strategy strives to have restaurants in neighborhoods, around airports, inside malls, and on college campuses for the convenience of customers (Talwalkar). All in all, McDonalds continues to be a part of the commodity chain because of three major factors that helped the brothers excel in their get rich quick business which consisted of low prices, various locations, and the consistent rate of speed. Despite false advertisement, countless lawsuits, and low wages; McDonalds continues to build a worldwide business that keeps people constantly coming back. Regardless of the minor changes as far as food, toys, and new decorations, McDonalds continues the trend of generating more and more
