This paper centers its attention on two published works that question and critique the meaning of physical education and if it is important within society. However, the authors of the articles have both similar and dissimilar beliefs on the metaphysical stance on monism and dualism. McCloy suggest that physical education is only looked at through a spectrum of what professional setting it is needed in, a more dualistic view with a hint of monism thrown throughout. While, Metheny suggests that movement and physical education is needed throughout life, no matter the age.
