This chapter in McCloud’s reading, they talk about the realm of theology in the Islamic context that it is both political and metaphysical. There are three “sects” of Islam and they correspond to the relationship between human and revelation. The prophet is known as an authority when it comes to the Quran. He was picked by God for this journey.
There are different spiritual types is Islam, they include Shi’ism and Sufisms who are more rational and gnostic. And there are the Kharijism who is more traditionalists.
After Mohammad passed away, his best friend Abu baker became his successor and one of the hero’s of Islam. He understood the authority of a society and authoritative role played by the Quran and the Sunna both under his administration
