He loved to write and explain the darkness in the world. (“Arthur Miller”). Proctor stands up for what he believes in. He has strong moral principles. For example, Procter had said, “No it is not the same! What others say and what I sign is not the same!”(Page 143) Proctor is pointing out that verbal is not the same as written documentation. My wife is innocent , except she knew a whore when she saw one!” (page 111). Proctor is standing up for his wife who saw right through Abigail and her passion for her husband. This shows the integrity of his wife and her wisdom. The final example of Protecter showing integrity is when he says, “ You will not use me! I am no Sarah Good or Tituba, I am John Proctor! You will not use me! It is no part of salvation that you should use me!” (page 142) He did not want to sacrifice other people's names. He knew they were good people and he could not say these bad things about them to save himself; when they were doing what was right. The people who stuck to their belief during this hard time demonstrated
