An organizational structure is a key element to a high-performance work system – it is the way an organization groups its people into useful divisions, departments, and reporting relationships (Noe et al., 2015). Categorizing and grouping jobs that require similar knowledge, skills, and resources contributes to efficiency and promotes the development of greater expertise. It is important that departments are not excluded from other departments to allow the exchange of ideas and different perspectives. As a marketing company, all of the departments frequently communicate with each other to complete assignments and projects. Therefore, departments have the opportunity to learn and appreciate how other departments function.
