I think that doing what McCandless did is really irresponsible and you should definitely know by his age that you risk your life by doing a solo trip to Alaska. I think that he knew exactly what he gave himself into before doing this trip. He did not show a lot of emotions through the book, but he did show some before he left. “When McCandless hugged Borah good-bye, she says, “I noticed he was crying. That frightened me.” I think that shows us that he knew that doing this was a risk for his life and that me might never come back.
The book tells us that McCandless was upset over his parents because they had pushed him too much over the years. He wanted to do what he wanted to and not what someone told him to do. From my point of view, his parents did give McCandless a good childhood and they cared about him. I think that his mental issue is the answer to why he acted the way he did. I also think that people who are going out in the wild like McCandless totally ill-prepared have either mental issues or are chasing something else in their life, and I do not believe that going out in the wild is the right way to try find yourself, which I think was McCandless purpose of doing the trip to
