Mccandless Reflection

Decent Essays
I really enjoyed this event and found it helpful, as there have been many issues in McCandless. Bullying and negative energy has definitely been circulating in the dorm. Having the president made these issues more concrete, and helped to get to the root of the problem. Having Cervelli speak up on what is going on was beneficial, as it showed that administration knows and cares about what is going on. Since the event I have seen more action regarding the bullying. Students have been bringing up the bullying quite a bit to me. I would say I get asked at least once or twice a day about it. Overall, it’s been difficult to approach, as I feel I should do more about the matter. However, I think the president’s visit acted as a catalyst for the dorm

The following week I took a record APFT, on the final even I felt a pop and sharp pain in my right leg. After finishing the 2 mile run I was driven to the local medical center to be looked at. The medical examiner told me that it was just a high sprain and proscribed Motrin and crutches. Upon redeployment at the SRP center I was reexamined by the provider.…

    Cal Poly Argument Essay

In the midst of heavy racial tension among college campuses across the country, Cal Poly Pomona has stood out above the rest by being culturally sensitive and encouraging students to take initiative and learn about other customs and ethnicities outside of their own. Over the course of the last academic session for students, whether quarter or semester there have been reported protests regarding racial injustice on at least five college campuses across the country. There have been zero protests at Cal Poly and according to President Coley it is because of it’s “long standing inclusive values and diverse campus.” She does not believe the campus has to handle damage control like other universities to recent events because it is in Cal Poly’s DNA starting with faculty and staff to be culturally aware and sensitive.…

    Equiano Reflection

My first initial impression of the novel was quite surprising. First of all, this story is not like most slave narratives. For instance, Equiano had a very close relationship with his masters and captains, “he was to me a friend and a father” (Equiano 110). Although, it is hard to remember which master he belongs to as he is telling his story. Perhaps, Equiano might be doing this on purpose so that we understand how many times he was sold and traded throughout his life.…

All you need to do to pass his class is turn everything in and stay on top of your work. Señor Lynch’s class is the easiest class if you speak spanish but if you don’t you will struggle on some things because you obviously don’t know spanish but as long as you pay attention and do the work you will pass. Mark Drolsbaugh Reflection

One thing is for sure, this is a fascinating book with situations that are relatable for me in some way or another. Mark Drolsbaugh definitely has had his fair share of struggles and unfair circumstances; however, he made it through and has become a strong and happy father. Through all his trials he has learned many important things that I believe everyone should know whether they are hearing or deaf, young or old, it doesn’t matter who they are. As Drolsbaugh was growing up he was taught that being deaf was bad, that sign language was going to make him stupid and incapable of ever being normal, and that he was weird. Being a teenager is hard enough, being different makes it worse, but being deaf with a lack of communication with people had…

On a day that was supposed to be filled with love, a tragedy occurred that broke the hearts of millions. In Florida, a Parkland school shooting took place on February 14, 2018. 17 were killed and 17 were injured- making it one of the deadliest school massacres. Across the nation, many students and faculty members were affected heavily and questioned the safety within their schools, so they realized it was time to do something to make a change. I'll admit- when I first say my peers creating flyers mentioning protests and marches, I thought it was a bit crazy!…

I must say that I did not expect it too much a focal point, mainly on Black race; to be honest it made me uncomfortable and agitated in a good and bad way. I said this most especially about our discussion posts. If I am being honest now, then I must say that if feel that some people were not as honest as I would have like. However, I do think that it was a good thing because things could have become unpleasant arguments among us students. I feel like our discussions and work should be more than focusing on black people; to me, it was a disadvantage, we all had to pretend to say something nice without looking at the bad and the good.…

When I watched the video of the Milgram Experiment I was quite shocked by it. Seeing people so willing to do harm on another person without being threatened was very disturbing, and seeing the few that was pleading to stop was heart breaking. When I put myself in their shoes, I would like to think that I would not harm anyone or anything. However, in all fairness to the idea of what I would do I must evaluate the environment and conditions to which I would have been exposed. If I knew that this was an experiment and the other party was a willing participant from the beginning; I could see myself shocking the other person at first, but when they began to express more that a slight pain from the shock I would have a problem with being able…
