Maywood Educational Fair Analysis

Decent Essays
It says “treat others the way you want to be treated”. I believe it, and I believe it more after the Maywood Educational Fair. When I did outreach activities during the weekend with my cohort, I enthusiastically gave one flyer to an old lady who was with her four or five years-old granddaughter and attracted their attentions by introducing the Maywood Educational Fair. The little girl was excited about all the fun activities, games, free snack, and prizes. However, the grandma looked at me with full of suspicion and quickly said something in Spanish to her granddaughter. Sadly, the little girl told me in English that they would not come. Seeing this, Christina immediately came to us and started to introduce the Maywood Educational Fair in Spanish.

It is that time of the semester, the Org Fair! Even though it is not as much fun as the Fall Org Fair, it is still an important day in the semester. It gives the opportunity of recruitment for the clubs on campus. For me, it is quite a busy day. For Dawg Pound, I am trying to promote the final stretch of basketball games as much as possible, as both teams are fighting for a home playoff game.…

Brain brawl is a club in sandalwood high school that entails competing with other schools in a jeopardy stylized game. During my time there the teachers in charge Mr. Alfonso and Ms. Copley used various methods of the social contract theory in order to figure out what the varsity team would be. Now there was around ten members during my senior year to break it down to seniority level we had: three seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and four freshmen. The major example of the social contract theory at work is the act of tacit consent due to all the senior members publicly consenting to the teachers that they were willing to be left out of the varsity team if the teachers believed that it would increase our chances of winning. The teachers in charge were going to vote on who they thought deserved to be on the team and without the senior’s consent there would be no fairness in the vote.…

I am applying for Farmville Education program because I think this is a wonderful opportunity to learn about secularism. I believe it is important to learn about racial prejudices that were commonplace in american society. I understand these prejudices were wrong but that they did shape American culture and society throughout the course of our nation's history. I think it is important to learn about these racial prejudices especially today, when our own president is publicly slandering specific ethnic groups and to learn by example a way to reasonably protest in a public manner and to develop a better sense of moral…

There are many injustices throughout the world today, and one apparent example is the dehumanization of lower class people. Many people are exploited in order for others to make a profit. This is largely in developing countries, but it also exists in industrialized countries. The main cause of this injustice is large companies trying to make money. This injustice occurs in multiple forms, including ill treatment of naive people and discrimination of others for past mistakes.…

Mo Zi and Lao Zi criticized the Confucius belief regarding family as the foundation of the country. Mo Zi uses logic, a utilitarian ethic – not moral, but it works in the self-interest of the people. Lao-tzu sees family as religion similarly. Mo Zi accepted certain fundamental Confucian principles, even though he perceived that Confucius inflated the bonds with relatives, associates, companions, and society basically. Family is the focus, the essential belief of honor and goodness.…

“The nation is clearly no longer content with mediocrity with just getting by. It is demanding excellent education for all” “It implies an end to the double standard and education in education, a double standard that gives high quality teaching to students and exclusive suburbs and inferior schooling to children in slums, they give preference to some states over others” You would think that this quote by Francis Keppel, in 1965, then the Commissioner of Education, who was the driving force behind the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 could have been quoted by Precedent. George W. Bush as he was implementing No Child Left Behind act of 2002. So what does the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 have to do with the No Child…

To me this quote means that as human beings become increasingly aware of the diversity that exists throughout the globe and within our own country, we begin to acknowledge and respect one another, and through this we are one step closer in achieving peace within our country and our world. For starters, I came from a country which failed time and time again to see and understand this concept Rigoberta Menchú so intricately devised into words. Mexico, in all of its natural beauty and ancient civilizations to soak up; is now in deep social and economic peril. Luckily, my mother was sufficiently educated to catch the early warning signs and knew that she wanted a better life for her and me, somewhere where we could have a second chance at life.…
