Mayor-Personal Narrative

Improved Essays
Finally, it’s time! Everything in the whole, entire, world, I remember was booming slightly! I was approximately thrilled to get ready for my one and only precious, day to be an honorable replacement for the mayor of Edmonton. I shivered and tried to settle myself down. I was stiff for a few moments when I suddenly charged myself out of my nervous look that shattered on my face. I got fired up when I thought how huge of an opportunity this is.

I couldn’t stop myself from terribly thinking about the impressive and delightful changes I will make for this delicate and beautiful city. I adjusted to shiver a step back and think about what mayor meant. I felt clutched but it was normal, I just needed to appreciate and sympathize myself.

Since I was born, New York City has been my life, my blood, and bones; I have grown and lived with many different people with different backgrounds. My neighborhoods have shaped me into who I am today, I am flexible and open, like raw clay, enough to be changed and formed. Then there is the Bronx, a borough of New York, where you have to be strong, or you will not survive, a place where all races are together, and everyone is noisy. I live in a community where there are mostly Hispanics, and where there are always car passing by and honking, during the day it is the only sound you can here, and ear-piercing bird calls, but during the night there is always some kind of party, either that or just really loud music. I have grown to get use…

It was July 2nd, 2010 and we were at my brother’s last freshman baseball game of the year. After that we got home and got our bags made sure we had everything and then we hit the road it was about 4:30 p.m. when we started to head to Chicago. I was excited because it was my first time being out of the state of Iowa. On the way down to Chicago we were listening to the Cubs game and they won that game and the next day was the game we were going to.…

Mother Sister and Da Mayor start to realize that even though they have known each other for eighteen years, they do not entirely know each other’s life story to determine one’s judgement toward one another. Da Mayor is just walking, minding his business until he notices Jade doing Mother Sister’s “beautiful hair.” His generous compliment, “I didn’t know you had such beautiful hair” backfires, as Mother Sister suddenly replies, “Fool, there’s a lot in this world you don’t know” (21). Spike Lee interprets himself in Mother Sister due to her want for Da Mayor to understand that there is more to learn than just what one thinks they know. This straightforward statement creates the understanding not everyone will be given a full story to one’s life;…

I grew up in a neighborhood where a tourist can capture awe-inspiring pictures through their phone's or camera's. Pictures that will bring out how rich this community is. Rich in culture, food, music, and art. Pilsen, The Heart of Chicago, is beautiful in and out. From the art located in almost every corner, to the kindest hearts that live in the people who live in Pilsen.…

As I stepped out into this new world, all I could hear was uproarious sounds of people yelling, the dropping of suitcases, and the rigorous excitement of my heartbeat. I had finally arrived at my new home, the metropolis of central Florida and the home to the world famous Mickey Mouse. The City of Orlando was something truly unique and quite adventurous; well at least in the eyes of a six year old whom had recently arrived from the tropical paradise in the Caribbean.…

As one of the biggest cities in the United States, Chicago stretches two hundred and thirty seven miles through the state of Illinois. Chicago has roughly two million people living in one city which is one of the many reasons it is unique. That is more people than the whole state of Iowa. The town of Chicago is one unique city compared to small town Fort Madison with the super structures over towering the city, the cultural differences in the food variety there, and ethnically diverse music are some things I can’t find in Fort Madison. When I think of Chicago the first thing that comes to my mind is; the multiple story, high rise, super structures we call skyscrapers.…

A city like Evanston has unprecedented opportunities. Its energy resonates to what I feel when I walk to through the streets of New York City. It is truly home away from home in my mind. But, the best part about the city is that people will not curse you out when you try to get ahead of them if they are walking too slow, or intimidate you if they don’t like the way you are acting. New Yorkers have a knack for all of this.…

After that my brother, sister, and I were guided to the couches that were located in the lobby, while my parents spent about twenty agonising minutes checking us in. After the long flight I just wanted to lay down and rest, but my dad thought it would be a wonderful idea to go out into the city and explore some of the many different places. Groaning and dragging my feet along with shoulders hunched forward I followed my eager parents into a place that I had never been before. The hustle and bustle of the day was all around me, and the amount of people who were walking throughout the streets and the sidewalk was astounding. About five minutes into the walk a loud noise boomed throughout the entire city chanting words in a language I had never heard before.…

I finally saw the the beautiful sun for the first time without having to bend my head back as far as I could since I had been in New York. It shone down brightly, warming my skin and glimmering off the glass of the skyscrapers in the near distance. I could finally feel the soft breeze wrap around me and not get deflected from the buildings. I watched the people from the city enter the park and watched as their city attitudes give way to the magical ambiance of the park. I closed my eyes and took it all in, and I could’ve stayed on top of that rock for…
