The class notes for this week lists some of the positive effects of laughter. Reading this prompted me to search for an article that contains more information about this topic. I came across, Stress Relief from Laughter? It’s No Joke, written by a staff member of the Mayo Clinic. It is an insightful article that lists numerous physiological benefits that result from laughing.
For example, there are several short-term benefits that occur soon after one laughs. For example, laughing is a stress reliever. Also, “Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain” (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2016). And, it can lead to the relaxation of muscles since laughing
