Data trends:

We received a dataset about net larval macroinvertebrate data. We think the testable question was “Which method works better for each specific specie?” We were tasked with analyzing this data and looking for trends. We have found that the kick method is more effective, and therefore used more often. In addition, we averaged each dataset, and we discovered that the species that is the most numerous is the mayfly and the one that is the least is the sowbug. The mayfly was 62.06862745 and the Sowbug was 0.04901960784. So we decided to do some research on the Mayfly and Sowbug and we found out that out of all the macroinvertebrates in our dataset the Mayfly was the most

With google slides we can include all of our discoveries about our data and at the same time we will be able to add images to add visuals to our project.

Reflection:

We idea really enjoyed the data jam process. Looking for trends in the data was challenging, but we were able to power through, and it felt even better when we were able to successfully find trends and patterns in the data.

Evaluation When performing the experiment, the pill bugs were generally unresponsive, and many stayed in the same place throughout the whole experiment. Outside of this, no major problems occurred while performing the experiment. If the experiment were to be performed again, more of the IV (baking soda, rubbing alcohol, etc.) would be added to produce a more pronounced effect on the pill bugs, as most pillbugs did not move at all. The results are mostly trustworthy and accurate, as the data is backed up by the research done prior to the experiment. Conversely, more trials could have been performed as experiments with living organisms tend to need a larger sample size.…

The objective of the Isopods Lab was to figure out if the Pillbugs favored the wet environment or a dry environment. After reading the pre-lab report on Pillbugs, my hypothesis was that “If water is added to an Isopods environment, then the isopods will favor the wet environment.” By using two groups of Isopods, one group was put into a dry environment and the other had one drop of water into their dish. After ten minutes of observing the Isopods, the results showed that the Pill Bugs prefer the wet environment more. As time went on, the bugs in the wet environment survived longer than the Isopod in the dry environment.…

Isopods that inhabit on land are what are known as terrestrial isopods. They share a close relationship to lobsters, fish, and shrimp due to their gills which mean they have more characteristics of a animal than an insect. Armadillidium Vulgare, which are commonly known as pill bugs, tend to live in moist places.…
