Technology, constantly evolving, seems to be a major topic of conversation because of the noticeable effects technology has on its users and the ways they communicate with one another. Judith Newman, one of many authors to write about technology, highlights a few of the positive effects of technology on people’s interactions with each other in her article, “To Siri, with Love,” which was published in The New York Times (628). However, Newman fails to focus on the adverse effects technology can have on people’s interactions with others. The Dean should take both sides into consideration when analyzing technology’s impact but should specifically focus on the negative impacts because of the importance of communication in the Army. Joshua Davis author of “La Vida Robot” writes about the intelligent young students having to come together and work hard to achieve something they have worked on. As Walter Isaacson from Steve Jobs too has a similar view on this having Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak both having to come together as a team and working hard to finish what they have started. Both Davis and Isaacson believe that a strong team consists of individuals who bring their different skills together to work as a team. Having different skills come together to accomplish a task makes a good team. To provide his argument on whether or not to entrust robots with the elderly, Sharkey uses examples of robots like this, Secom, an automatic feeder and Sanyo, an electric bathtub robot that can both wash and rinse, and a robot called Mitsubishi Wakamura, which is used for “monitoring, delivering messages, and giving reminders about medicine” (359). In his positive point of view, he explains how each of these robots can help care for the elders in their homes, but like with kids, they would be left without human contact which is what all humans need. In their case, their contact comes from “caregivers and people performing day-to-day tasks” (359). To them and to kids, robots are like toys. This kind of technology can provide great things for…

Robots have been completely assimilated into society, causing humans to overly rely on them. Robots have been completely accepted due to the three…
