Me as an African American man makes me want to strive that much more to reach my goal. Ambition is only defeated by one’s self. The only person that can get in the way of your drive is yourself. No greater honor is greater than being successful. Setting for less is something the African American community cannot afford. We are already counted out to finish last. I refuse to a stereotype or just another statistic. I have much to prove to myself and my family. Even better, I have something to prove to myself. Reading the book I just cannot afford to let time be wasted. Looking back on life, I cannot have any regrets about what I could have done. The drive is strong and the ambition is great. Also as an African American man, I am a role model to all that see me. For example, I have a brother that is 16. The other day he told me he wrote a paper over who he wants to be like. The word coming out his mouth of him telling me he to be like me. Brought tears to my eyes. It shoes I have no room for error as brother, as African American, and as a man. Maya Angelou book tells me I cannot give up because I have so much to
