Maya Angelou was an author, civil rights activist, and a poet. She struggled a lot through life. She dealt with brutality of racial discrimination. She struggled with the death of Martin Luther King Jr. which was on her birthday. Maya also dealt with trauma when she went on a trip she took to go visit her mother. For example, since Maya Angelou dealt with brutality of racial discrimination it got her to become a civil rights activist. Another example is when Martin Luther Kind died she was devastated because she worked closely with him for the civil rights movement. When he died the civil rights movement died with him, too.
