Maya Angelou has gotten many awards. She won three grammys. She got awards of best spoken word, Presidential Medal of Freedom, and National Medal of Arts. She also recited her poem “On the Pulse of the Morning” at Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993.
In beginning, Maya was born as Marguerite Anne Johnson on April 4th, 1928. In St. Louis, Missouri. Her father was Bailey Johnson who was a doorman and her mother was Vivian (Baxter) Johnson who was a nurse. Maya got older and finished high school and went to college at California Labor School. Also that she was a dancer. She was married to Tosh Angelos from 1950-1952. Then she got remarried to Paul De Feu from 1973-1980.

Such as as Phenomenal Woman, Still I Rise, Caged Bird, Alone, Touched by an Angel, Woman Work, and Men. Phenomenal Woman is about being a phenomenal woman just the way you are and that you don't have to be a size zero to fit the part. Still I Rise is about getting back up with all the people that try to put you down. Caged Bird means to me is that someone is caged and they can’t get out to spread their good. Alone means that you need someone to be there with you and you can't make it all alone. Touched by an Angel is about being loved by someone. Work Woman is about being a woman working all By yourself like a single mom. Men is about getting too close and then at the end she just simply watches at the
