For the first 8 months, she hadn’t told anyone except her brother. It wasn’t until three weeks until she was suposed to have the baby when she finally told her mother. At the age of 16, she gave birth to her son, Guy (Mom & Me & Mom 66-
69). After having Guy, she decided that she should get a home for the two of them. Once she got a job, they moved away from her mother to San Francisco (Mom & Me & Mom 72-77).
Maya Angelou had many memorable traits. Many of her traits were developed when she was living with her mother. She never lied unless she found that she really needed to. Her choice to not lie earned her respect and trust from her mother and other adults in her life.
