In his book, Theory of Heat, Scottish physicist James Maxwell proposed a thought process regarding entropy and the Second Law of Thermodynamics. The Maxwell demon (thus labeled as such by William Thomson in 1874) controls an interface/wall separating gases of heterogeneous pressure within a closed box[3]. · Financial: Either focus nanotechnology on all possible sectors, or gradually introduce nanotechnology into society. As with other high-technology developments (e.g. night-vision), start off with military/aerospace development, adapting technology into the private sector for commercialization

Other possible actions regarding nanotechnology relate to management philosophy (government, private sector, unregulated) and include:

· Canceling all research, development, and experimentation in regards to nanotechnology (seems unlikely, though)

· Confining nanotechnology research and development to military programs only (essentially government controlled)

· Continuing nanotechnology research and development through the private sector and/or universities (unregulated)

· Co-developing and managing nanotechnology via government agencies and government-sanctioned private industries and

Basic needs will be taken care of, the need for material possessions will be irrelevant, and everyone will be able to pursue what dreams he/she has. The issue here is responsible research by those selected to do so. Any action that jeopardizes the fulfillment of human society’s needs violates the Rights Perspective. Everyone has a right to basic needs for survival, and improved quality of life. Abusing nanotechnology for subversive means could prevent everyone from enjoying the benefits of nanotechnology, and instead be detrimentally
