Parrish’s father and family was a big influence on his artistic career and he was received his first sketchbook at the age of three. Originally Maxfield was more interested in machines and architecture, which shows in his further artistic career.
Parrish was born on July 25, 1870 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died March 30, 1966 making art throughout his whole life up until the age of 90 when he got arthritis in his hands, so he had a very successful career. His last and final work was in 1961 called “Away From It All.” He was born as Frederick Parrish from his paternal grandmother’s maiden name that was Maxfield, which he later used as his professional first name.
