We all have to follow them. Everywhere we go. At my work we have to wear a gray shirt with the El Super logo, with black jeans and black water resistant shoes. If we don’t follow these rules we either get a warning, suspended, or sent home. At school we have to respect our peers and our professors. Our government has its own laws we have to follow and if we don’t we get arrested and thrown into jail. Rules and laws are important because it shows what is tolerable and acceptable and it keeps things in order. The majority of people chose to follow rules and laws because they fear the consequences of breaking them.
Technical competence is technology. Technology is very important because it is constantly advancing and things are becoming more and more technological. If companies aren’t up-to-date with these changes then they will start to fall behind and lose their money and their customers or investors. Keeping records of everything you’ve ever done to prevent yourself from making a mistake and seeing what helps you and what not. Companies always keep all their files in a secure place and when they have meeting they always pull them out and see what changes to make to their companies to make them even more successful. Doctors always have files of their patients and when their patient gets sick they pull it out and see if any previous illness might have caused it. Extensive record keeping is important because you always have to keep all your information and with technology these days it has become easier to do so.
Max Weber’s ideal type bureaucracy is important to humanity because it shows how the system works. Most people accept the bureaucratic way as the norm and complain saying it isn’t fair. They blame the people on top for it being unfair to the people on the bottom. The fault is in the organization. It is important to me because I’ve never noticed bureaucracy like this.
