Maureen Johnson, brilliant writer, gorgeously written book, a chilling and beautiful thriller. New York Times Bestselling Author, shows Johnson’s ability of writing. Johnson, has become my favorite author. She has very beautiful books, she knows how to explain stories, very well written, The Madness Underneath, is the second book, the first one is The Name of The Star. At first, I had trouble relating to the book, and character. The main character, has a special ability, called terminus, this allows her to kill spirits that are going after her, or that are suffering. In the beginning, Rory the main character, got stabbed in the abdomen, sent back to her hometown, returned to London, and is facing the reality again. First, relating to the book was difficult, because the main character has a special ability, and in real life no one does. Rory, stabbed by Jack the Ripper, after he got to her, he gave her the last terminus before he stabbed her, after handing her the terminus, he exploded, the reason why he exploded, is because the terminus is to kill vengeful spirits. After getting the terminus, Rory has been able to kill spirits just by touching them. She, seems terrified, depressed, because she wants to help them, but not by making them explode and leave. Rory, sees the pain they are going through. For example, Rory is staying clear …show more content…

Furthermore, the reason why Rory got stabbed was because, she could see all the spirits, she could see Jack. Once Jack found out she could see every moment he made, then he knew, he had to change something, might as well kill her. However, by Jack being noticed he couldn't move very well around place, the first book, has when Rory got the terminus from Jack, she killed him because she had a very strong power after receiving the

From watching the film, I understand that women who are incarcerated do not receive the proper prenatal care in order to give birth to children. I feel that shackling an incarcerated mother to a hospital bed, when in labor, is cruel and unnecessary. Doing so has the potential to increase the risk of a child and/or mother to experience problems during birth. After hearing Tina Torrez’s experience when giving birth to her daughter as an inmate, it was clear the care inmate mothers receive is unacceptable when compared to the care mothers who are not labeled as inmates receive. Hearing her experience bothered me because of the fact that even though she was pregnant and giving birth, she was still treated as if she were not a human with physical and emotional feelings.…

After killing the five children, she confessed her crimes to 911 dispatchers. When news of the story came to the public, it came as a surprise to those who only thought of her as one who could do no evil. In the perspective of others, this sin created a basis for judgment and questioning everything she has ever done and how her past actions foreshadowed to the future.…

Reconstruction in the South after the Civil War would prove to be a challenging endeavor for the United States having to literally re-create an entire portion of the nation. This couldn’t be any closer to the truth in the case of New Orleans, where political reform and overhaul of its past principles, was a change that would come slowly and with a lot of time. One incident during the Reconstruction period that helps underline how hard these changes would be to achieve was the kidnapping of Mollie Digby, it is from the early “facts” about the case that help ignite turmoil in the city, state, and eventually the entire country. Before, and during, the time of the actual kidnapping of Mollie Digby the social structure and the political system…
