Maureen Condic's Argument Against Abortion

I am all for abortions. Women should be able to make their own choice without taking criticism for their actions or needing the consent from anybody else. Both supporting and opposing sides have some reasonable arguments but at the end of the day, nobody should be told what they can’t do in life unless it is totally illegal. People control their own lives with abortion, nothing more nothing less. What somebody decides to do with their life shouldn’t affect you in no type of way unless it pertains to you. There are more pros then cons which justifies why abortions shouldn’t be judged as a wrong doing. A baby shouldn’t be allowed into this world unwanted. Maureen Condic, a professor of neurobiology at the university of Utah explains the claim that fetuses feel pain during the abortion procedure. The most primitive response to pain, “The Spinal Reflex” is developed by eight weeks’ gestation which means that the fetus suffers pain. After 20 weeks of gestation, the fetus will feel pain the same way we feel pain. For the religious people, abortion is the killing of a human being, which defies the word of God. Critics say that women should not be able to use abortion as a form of contraception. One critic claimed “It is immoral to kill an unborn child for convenience”. Other critics say that women are not mentally stable to deal with an abortion because it causes psychological damage. Young adult women who undergo abortions may be at increased risk for subsequent depression. In my opinion, these most of these cons seem to be biased because there is no evidence for most of them. They are more based on how people feel instead of statistical
