Professionals can advocate for children by providing their expertise and experience and support. Parents have a lot on their plate when finding out about healthcare problems and disabilities. Families are expected to make critical decisions regarding the care and safety of their child. They often have limited resources, knowledge and finances. Parents and healthcare providers, can work together, to help other families going through some of these same issues.

Census Bureau defines a family as consisting of two or more people related by birth, marriage, or adoption residing together (pg, 5). Every family size and form can be different there isn’t a right or wrong answer to the size and form of a person's family. Julie’s family consists of herself, husband Barry, daughter Madelyn, deceased son Alex, and youngest son Matthew. Her oldest, Madelyn does not live at home currently she just finished college and has moved down to Centerville. Matthew lives at home with Julie and Barry and is still in High School. Family size and form can change over time and this is what happens as we get
