To start, both have a similar character development scheme. I stated this in the introduction, but their character arcs are almost exactly the same. I did say almost, but we will get to that later. So, what is their shared arcs? They both are born and raised in a confined area with not much freedom or liberty. They are clueless as to the true nature of the world around them. However, as they get older, they begin to ask more questions. As you know, questions always lead to answers, even if they aren’t preferable. So, as such, they begin to learn more about the world around them. For obvious spoilers, I won’t reveal more… until the fourth paragraph. By this I mean, their lives mostly follow the same path of growth and development. Both were born/created in isolation from the true world, Matt even more so than Jonas. Both eventually break out to experience a “fake world” if you will; a figment that covered up a different world. This mirage of sorts blocks them from seeing beyond this world. Both make friends and meet people. They accept this world as the true world until they come of age. For Jonas this was twelve while for Matt this was fourteen. Afterwards, they start to tear down that barrier to reveal what was behind it all
