Many customers are enjoying the ability to purchase through the internet, while many customers enjoy the environment of shopping in the retail stores. With the change in technology innovation business like Mattel have to be able to keep up with the customer demands. Mattel has to become more creative with toy inventions and be more focused on customer preferences. Many of Mattel customers as well as other customers use the internet at an all-time high. Mattel as a company had to look at things differently and think outside the box and stay aware of what was happening on sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and other social media outlets. Social media has the ability to change and influence the industry and also can have an impact on the rise and fall of an industry (Parnell, 2014). Jeff Ragovin, chief strategy officers, believed that companies must be able to adapt or die. Mattel recently launched a Barbie without hair to represent kids that have cancer; this was all motivated through social media (International Business Times, 2012). …show more content…
