Mattie from Fever 1793 and Amari from Copper Sun has lots of similarities. One being they both are two young girls that grew up In a rough time with their families and went through tragedies. Both girls lost their loved ones at a young age and not just family in general but their immediate family. It had to be hard to go through but both of them are strong. Being that they are only teenagers.

By both girls being young teenagers, they were just coming into the stages on liking boys and having to take on responsibilities. Amari grew up in a small little town of african people she knew. Amari also had a crush on young teenage boy named Besa. Mattie grew up in a little town in Philadelphia. Mattie and her parents ran a coffee house and just like Amari -

Amari and Polly grew to like each other after a while of getting to know one another. In the book Copper Sun Amari and polly were to be sold by the doctor that Mr.Derby ordered to help deliver him and Isabelle’s baby. The Doctor didn’t follow through with the procedure and let the girls plus tidbit go free. Polly was white and could have easily left the Amari and Tidbit but she didn’t because like i said earlier they had grew a bond and became fond of each other. Just like Amari And Polly, Mattie had a best friend name Eliza and Polly. They both had a best friend named Polly which gives them a similarity. But Eliza and Mattie had a friendship like Polly and Amari they had been knowing each other for some time and also grew a bond between each other. When Mattie’s Grandfather had died and mother was lost Eliza stuck around and helped her to run the business because Mattie asked her too. Basically the two share a similarity by having a bond with a young girl there age and having a best friend with the same
