The film Matilda is about a bright little girl who is born into a nuclear family who always mistreats her. Matilda had never received a proper care from her parents, but at the age of four she learned how to take care of herself. She was always left home alone while her parents would go to work, play bingo, and her older brother would go to school. While everyone was gone, Matilda would go to the library to read and rent books. The father didn’t really acknowledged Matilda except when asking for any received mailed. She has an adolescent brother who constantly taunts her and the parents sees it as an acceptable behavior. In the film it shows Matilda suffering from emotional loneliness when she is unfairly punished. She cannot depend on her mother or brother for support, instead Matilda goes into her room and cries while reading her book. The books help her to forget the problems she faces within her family, giving her a moment to escape from reality. Often times, Matilda was never under the parents’ supervision since the child was always left on her own. They do not bother to check up on her daughter or wait for her to get home from school especially during the time the Principal Ms. Truchball kept all the students late at night. Having all the information collected from the child, CPS will probably monitor the family more closely. Once CPS is involving, they can probably drop by a surprise visit once a week to the family’s home to see how everything is …show more content…
Every student and teacher is afraid of Ms. Truchbull who is the principal of the school where Matilda attends. The principal like to abuse non-defensive students by threatening them be send in the chokehold or throwing them across the school. Within the school, there is no proper administration since no one has reported Ms. Truchbull to the authorities. The school is in bad conditioned where there is no playground, teachers are not allowed to use their own teaching style, and the principal is allowed to run the school as if it was her kingdom.
