Some key things that Dr. Shore advises could help a student tackle their anxiety from a teacher’s aspect are: making math fun, making math something a student can relate to, be calm and patient, encourage students to ask questions for better understanding. use concrete objects to foster understanding, help the student make sense of math concepts and promote the student’s confidence.
As a Christian, math anxiety can be handled in a couple of ways. I feel by saying a prayer for understanding of the information, you are opening yourself up to gaining the knowledge you need to overcome your anxiety. Also I feel that you have to turn all problems over to God. God will make a way for better understanding. If you have the faith that all things are possible through Christ, this too shall pass. Hopefully that block will be moved out of my way.
In conclusion, I am still feeling a tad bit nervous about this class, however I will apply some of the techniques that Dr. Shore suggest and hopefully come out on the other side of these seven weeks, a math
