I have read and understand the syllabus, calendar, and addendums. I understand that there are deadlines poster on the calendar that must be met and that there will be no extensions for any assignments. There are many challenges when you are a new student at a online university due to the fact that you are trying to learn a new system of learning and getting accustomed to a new schedule which requires organized time management . Reading the read section in Unit 1 informed me of various ways to complete my assignments in a organized timely fashion.(Chambers,2016) Planning ahead will allow me to managed my time wisely to reduce stress and careless errors on my assignments. I plan on dedicating at least a couple hours a day to my online assignments to avoid unnecessary point deductions. Write of what parts of the text were the most difficult to read, and to identify how many times a passage was read before some understanding was achieved. This has been actually one of my best weeks so far, week 6. The topics were linear equations and non linear equations and I was able to remember about them so this time my brain was not that disconnected as normally is with algebra which made me happy. Entering into unit two of the Math 1201 course, I find that the concepts in the reading crystallize in my mind after an average of two to three readings. Failing to employ proper use of fundamental mathematical concepts appears to be the major bane that deters my ability to comprehend the material any faster. For example, neglecting to execute operations in the proper sequence caused me initial problems when converting from the general quadratic form to the standard form, specifically completing the square. Algebra 1 and Math 3 are very similar to each other in mathematic ways because they are both mostly about numbers, but there is also a couple of differences too. One of the key attributes for a successful nursing career is to have adequate numeracy skills. I believe it is very important for nurses and nursing student to learn how to correctly measure drug dosages for the safe administration of medication to patients. As a teacher, my belief is that students be taught the importance of mathematics in the daily life. I also stand firm that students should also be taught important life lessons that relate to how to succeed and prepare for the future. I think that it is inevitable that students be taught basic curriculum in mathematics. I agree that concepts of Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics be taught but I also think that students should be taught mathematics that deals with finances earlier then the college level.
