In the nursing education department within the College of Arts and Science, a key course
that nursing students enroll in is Maternal-Newborn Nursing. Although a number of learning
methods are used throughout the semester, Maternal-Newborn Nursing employs three primary
means of learning.
One method of learning used in the course is lecture. The theory portion of learning is
taught primarily through lectures presented by professionals within the fields of labor and
delivery, postpartum, and neonatal intensive care nursing. The professors teach on a number of
