These particles are removed by the image processing routine in its third step, the binarization, in which only the jet region is extracted. It is believed that they are responsible for the stream-wise skewness of the ground distribution in Fig.\ref{Profiles_1}.a, particularly its left tail. Noteworthy, these distributions are similar in this region: due to high particle-particle interaction (attractive, due to straw kernel twisting) the amount of particles leaving the jet boundaries is small and weakly affected by the blower velocity.
