Masturbating Book Report

When God created us as sexual beings, he wanted people to use their sexual desires to draw them closer to their spouse. However, when people fuel their sexual desires outside of marriage, the results can be harmful and serve many consequences.

One example of a way people fuel their sexual desires is through masturbation, or using yourself for sexual pleasure. Many people think that masturbaing quenches a sexual “fire.” Instead, it does the opposite. It fuels the fire. Masturbating is an unhealthy habit that not only takes away your sexual innocence, but can even make you lose the sense of God’s presence through self-gratification. It goes against God’s perfect plan for our sexuality; God planned for your spouse to be the only one to fulfill your wants.

In Colossians 3:5, it says that sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed should all be put to death because they all belong to our earthly nature, and are also idolatry. Paul says that just

One person that the book mentions is a girl named Hannah. Hannah is overweight, and because of her poor self-image she is motivated to engage in a sexual relationship with her boyfriend to feel the reassurance that she needs. Hannah should know that beauty isn’t from the outside, but instead from the inside. If she would know that God created he perfectly, then wouldn’t need to get reassurance from her boyfriend.

On the other side of the spectrum, and just as bad, we see a girl named Retta. She is obviously very pretty on the outside, as she has won several beauty pageants in her past. C.S. Lewis writes, in his essay titles We Have No "Right To Happiness," on pages 747 to 750, about an encounter he had with his neighbor named Clare and the thoughts he had afterward. Lewis describes a situation in which two people divorced their partners in order to marry each other, "Mr. A" and "Mrs. B." After entertaining different definitions of a human right and applying them to the event, Lewis concluded that the right his neighbor truly meant to describe was the right to, as he called it, "sexual happiness." Sexual happiness is treated exceptionally from the rest of the rights and moral codes people tend to hold, and he argued that this is undue. However, he stated that he could understand the reason for this: "It is part of the nature of a strong erotic passion-as distinct from a transient fit of appetite-that it makes more towering promises than any other emotion. " This is to say that the pursuit of sexual happiness…

Habitually this bondage is consequently established through society’s sexual ‘collective unconscious,’ without the slightest thought to the reality of its evil presence and the damage it freely inflicts. As pointed out in the previous scriptures, people’s obsession with the lust of their images/bodies originated long ago, and effectively has continued through the centuries on into societies today. Though it has been thousands of years ago since lust began, its existence…

The Scripture strongly resists the urge of lust as in Hebrews 13:4 says, “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous”. Physical attraction is beautiful for it marks a change in a relationship and connects two bodies with the same souls together. However, it is only honored and meaningful within the bond of marriage.
