Master's Degree Program Entry Essay

Upon completion of my Master’s degree, I aim to secure employment with an intergovernmental or nongovernmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the alleviation of human suffering through the protection and promotion of human rights. I plan to gain experience through advocacy, research, and policy development related to human trafficking, counterterrorism, security, gender discrimination, conflict, peace, and reconciliation. Additionally, I aspire to establish or be involved with an NGO devoted to the restoration of sex trafficking survivors through comprehensive support, including legal assistance, counseling, education and vocational training, as well as personal enrichment through art and eco-therapy - similar to the values of the Polaris Project.
Pursuing a graduate degree will sharpen my research skills and expand my knowledge and expertise on the complexities of international human rights protection and promotion. I recently obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in International Relations, and am eager to continue broadening my understanding of the links between international human rights and security, social equity, development, terrorism, and human trafficking. Many of my research projects addressed International Relations, such as, impacts of development, international institutions, democratization, gender inequality, terrorism, peace and conflict, transitional justice post-violence, and community reconciliation post-violence.
