Q: Briefly discuss the relevance of Masters and Johnson's research in the 1960's. Why was it so revolutionary?
William Masters was an American Gynecologist who studied the anatomical and physiological process of sexual intercourse and sexual response along with Virginia Johnson, his research assistant. Their research focused on what happens in the body during intercourse. Participants would engage in self stimulation and/or sexual intercourse while things such as breathing, heart rate, lubrication and dilation were monitored.
