The sources of violence that relate to this case are exposure to violence, socialization and upbringing and some level of human instinct. Teenage boys are often exposed to violence through their video games. They tend to spend most of their time invested in these games and sometimes some behaviors that we see as inappropriate are appropriate in the games themselves. According to some of the articles these two boys were exposing themselves to violent video games where shooting was a norm and violent movies which displayed guns as a way to gain power over things they don’t like. Each individual involved had their own mental illness issues that they were suffering. Dylan Kleboid was described as a teen who was suffering from depression and suicide ideation while Eric Harris was suffering from “psycho-pathetic tendencies” and other mental illnesses. While Harris was seeing a psychiatrist for his issues he stopped going months before the shooting. Another occasion where violence was a big factor was the paper that Dylan wrote for a school assignment. Two months before the shooting Klebold had written a paper which described “a tall man in a black overcoat who fills a duffle bag with weapons and guns down a group of “college preps” (Dawson, M. Scott, T. NG, C. Effron, L. 2016). Again in this case there was premeditation with violence, the teacher did raise suspicion and called the parents in but then it was brushed off their shoulders and no steps were taken to further investigate the paper and its content. Another point is that the individuals had easy access to gain weapons. An upper classman and a private buyer ended up giving these two the guns that were used in the school shootings. The next source of violence that relates to this is socialization and upbringing. Both boys come from a two parent
