Mass Scooters Incident On October 1st, 2017, the Route 91 Harvest music festival was in full session. The crowds were packed densely, the music was blasting, and security at its highest on the ground. All of that changed when gunfire erupted from a nearby high rise hotel, killing 58 and injuring hundreds more. The gunman had deliberty planned a new method of carrying out a mass shooting, one that would result in the greatest mass shootings in United States history. This tragic event has enlightened law enforcement agencies and emergency planners to the surreal risk of an innovative mass shooter. Until the Las Vegas shooting, only a handful of other gunman have take perches in elevated positions to target civilians. A notorious shooting has not happened in a similar manner for decades, so preparing for an elevated shooter was not on the top of law enforcements precautions. The first responders acted accordingly, the police in the area, worked frivolously to locate and neutralize the active shooter. Once the shooter was isolated, the Officers created a blockade to prohibit any possibility of escape. SWAT arrived, and stormed the barricaded room to end the terror that seemed to last forever. After the threat was neutralized, Police officers assisted in the calming of the masses, and treating of the wounded. EMS crews raced to and from the local hospitals in a drastic effort to save as many as they could. From there, medical personal worked for hours on end, to operate and treat those wounded. At the scene of the event, police detectives raced to piece together all the details to deliver to the public as to why this tragedy occured.
