Aon is a multinational company known for its risk management endeavors, but is also involved in insurance and re-insurance brokerage, human resourcing, etc. People in Aon usually talk about six key areas of expertise like risk, talent, retirement, health, data & analytics and capital. The whole company is consistent of three business units Aon risk solutions, Aon Benfield, and Aon Hewitt. Company has over 500 offices in 120 countries around the world with more than 65,000 global colleagues. They got the current name on the internal competition where employees were trying to come up with the name that will represent their core values and also be easy to remember and recognize. One gets all the help one needs in order to become the best it can be. Employees gets help from other employees, personal mentorship, tutoring classes, as well as online knowledge repository named Aon University. Aon University is basically an internal portal with numerous courses that are sometimes obligatory or just available for professional growth. Everyone needs to take classes on Aon’s client promise, anti-corruption, business conduct, and data security. Interns get weekly lunch and learn events where various parts of the company are presented and interns are able to personally introduce to other higher ranked employees from those departments. Also people are open for opportunities to job shadow people in any department in their efforts to find that perfect spot for their further development. I learned that data security is very important, and not only personal computers and data transfer between them but also data in the cloud (private and public), as well as in Aon’s data center at the biggest possible level. I even had a chance to get a few tours on the data center on premise. The amount of security related to it is amazing, almost like in those futuristic movies. Technology leadership not only leads its employees but is also there to hear any suggestions and even learn from newcomers.
