Crime happens all over the world yet it is interpreted in many different ways. There are so many different factors that make up crime, and those factors vary depending on where in the world you live. One major factor, in the United States at least, is the mass media. In this new day and age the media seems to know everything, and has no qualms with sharing that information with whoever is listening. Either that, or they don’t mind going and making it seem as if crime isn’t something that people should take seriously. Certain crimes seem so minimal, mainly because the media has helped society view it that way. This shows just how the media manages to influence crime around the world.
The mass media influences people of all ages, but a majority of the people that it influences negatively are children. Kids are beginning to watch inappropriate and violent material at such a young age that it is now starting to affect their development. The more susceptible children can be affected drastically, and can start to no longer be able to tell what is real and what is fantasy. Cyberbullying is now officially a crime, and the occurrence of it actually helped make all kinds of bullying become a crime.
