Channel selection is a very important step when creating a campaign for childhood obesity. The two ways of communicating information with consumers are direct and indirect messages. Direct messages are face-to-face messages. Indirect messages are messages through TV, Internet, or newspaper. It is very important to know what channels the audience are most likely to use or trust in order to select the appropriate channels. It is also crucial to know what kind of channels to select in order to deliver the message in the appropriate form. The parents of the children and children are our two audiences. For parents, we will promote our message by using mass media communication channel. We will relay our messages to them by putting it on TV in between their favorite shows, all radio stations, social media, and the newspapers. We will also promote our message in locations that parents usually go to such as supermarkets and gyms. We will use the group communication channel to communicate with parents regarding childhood obesity in parents/teachers conferences at school and we will try to set up group meeting with parents where we combine all parents in one group to discuss the issue of childhood obesity and way to fix the problem. As far as the children, we will promote the message by using interpersonal communication where we talk to children face-to-face about how we can get them involved in more sports and healthy eating. Another way to use interpersonal communication with children is to have some of their favorite celebrities visit them at school and tell the message that we want to deliver to them in order to see faster results. We will also use mass media to relay our message to children; we will do that by promoting it on TV in between cartoons and on the internet as well. It has been proven that interpersonal communication with family members, friends, and members of one’s social and professional circles has a better impact on person’s decision making than that person’s media exposure whether it is from TV, internet, or social media. We will promote our message by using word of mouth to make sure that everyone knows the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity vs the consequences of childhood obesity. We will also set up group chats on different types of social media where people from all over the world could discuss the issue of childhood obesity and come up with different possible solutions that could possibly work for different communities from all over the
