Films and movies are usually great indicators and representations of a society’s morals, values and social institutions. It only makes sense for them to be that way in order for them to be relatable and understandable to the audience. In order for a movie or film to become successful and popular, not only does it have to have a good storyline, but also interesting and relatable characters that an audience can easily become invested in. While the singer Sheerah can be seen as a successful example of a woman in the film, she also needs to hire a security entourage just so she doesn’t have to deal with her fans. Mills’ wife doesn’t seem to be the type of woman who goes out and works hard for what she wants, instead opting to marry a millionaire like Stuart so that she can be taken care of for the rest of her life. Even Mills’ daughter Kim is unable to figure out what to do when she sees her friend being kidnapped and relies on her dad to give her directions on what to do next. There are no strong woman within this film, and the consensus within the movie seems to be that the females need the support of the men to function properly. Even worse than this, women are portrayed in the movie as being only good as objects of sex. In one scene in the movie, after the girls are dropped off by Peter, Amanda brags to Kim that she plans to have sex with Peter at the party he invited them to. The entire movie also revolves around the illegal sale of women into prostitution and the idea of women being used for sex is a prominent theme throughout the entire movie.
