Marywood University: The Unsurpassed Student

What is/are your evolving personal goals and values? How are they being or how will they be affected by the mission statement?
My evolving personal goal at Marywood University is to be the unsurpassed student and believe in myself. Often times, I look for other people’s approval such as from my teachers or professors. As a child, I always wanted to become a teacher. But time and again, I looked for acceptance from others, which is a bad habit for a teacher. Most students look up to their teacher as a well-rounded person who is successful in her or his career, at least I did. My teachers seem to have had all the confidence in the world. I yearn for my students to have the same self-assurance.

Right now is the perfect time for me to accept myself without the approval from others. I need to start to respect my own work and not permit others to determine my abilities as a student. I want to be able to articulate in way that people do not have to ask me to repeat myself. I crave for the ability to speak without stuttering over my words when I’m nervous. …show more content…
I just want to have that confidence in myself that way I can show my students that they can do it as well. I want my students to learn to respect their own self and their work. I don't want others to have a control over their lives where they have to look for external approval to be happy within. I want them to have the self-confidence to stand up for themselves and not let other people determine who they are. I want them to respect their own abilities to be themselves. This is one of my personal goals that I know will take some time to work on, but it’s possible if I continue to practice. I know that once I develop these skills, I will be capable of teaching others the knowledge I have received and share the experiences I have had at
