Marywood University Mission Statement Analysis

From a young age, I began setting personal goals. They generally were small and short-term. I have always pushed myself to reach them. With college in my future, I knew I had to set new goals for myself. When I chose to attend Marywood University and major in speech-language pathology, one of my goals was extremely apparent to me. This was to receive a Master’s degree in the five-year program that Marywood offers. Another goal I had going into college was to become more confident in my abilities, especially that of my learning ability. My two goals seem to align. Once I become confident in what I will be able to do, I should not have any problem reaching my goal for my degree. Marywood’s mission statement and core values relate to my goals in the following ways. In Marywood University’s mission statement, it states that this university roots itself in “the belief that education empowers people.” This is greatly important to me. I feel that if this university believes strongly in this aspect of education, then I will be able to fulfill my goals with the help of educators and fellow students. I hope to be encouraged to be prideful and confident in my efforts toward not only my school work, but also my personal endeavors. …show more content…
I knew if I were to attend Marywood, I would live at home and commute. Personally, I feel that this is the best fit for me in order to be able to focus and accomplish all that needs to be done in the comfort of my own home, but also have the opportunity to experience college life with all that Marywood has to offer. In achieving my full potential, I should be capable of receiving a Master’s degree in the five-year allotted time

While not every one of the core values applies to me and my goals, the ones that do align strongly with both the interests that I have, and the places that I see myself going later in life. However, to obtain the right education and experiences to enable this, goals (both short-term and long-term) must be set. My short-term goals include making A’s in all of my courses this semester, securing an internship for the summer involving animals, and acing all of my chemistry 101 tests. As for my long-term goals, I want to get accepted into veterinary school, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPR as I get my undergraduate degree, and to positively impact others lives with my work.…
