Her thoughts were that a woman could also flourish when educated if they abandoned the mentality of being the weaker sex. In the line “Civilized women are, therefore, so weaken by false refinement, that, respecting morals, their condition is much below what it would be”(Wollstonecraft 233”). Wollstonecraft also challenges the concept that a woman only role was to give emotional support over logical thinking, supported by the line “women are plunged by the prevailing opinion, that they were created rather to feel than reason” (Wollstonecraft 235).
Mary Wollstonecraft writing was of interest, due to the subject matter of equal right. Her writing had an emphasis for women to elevate themselves and come out of the shadow of their male counterpart to claim their equality.
