Life sends everyone something or someone that will test them and one can choose to be broken or to be strengthened by that experience. Authors love to open up the mind of people and write about how they think and react to circumstances in their test. One man who did this was Arthur miller, he wrote about the Salem witch trials and how people reacted to the trials of life back then. In the crucible, Mary Warren disintegrate, Reverend John Hale preservers, but John Procter triumphs from Salem’s unjust court Mary Warren first becomes involved when she is made an official of the court of Salem. At the Procter household Hale comes and warns them, he says, “I know not if you are aware that your wife’s name is mentioned in the court.” (1120). Later, Procter realizes that almost everyone is being accused of witchcraft. The jailer declares, “I am given sixteen warrant tonight, sir, and she is one of them.” (1125). After his wife was taken to jail, Procter forced Mary to come and confess to lying. When Marry tells the truth all the girls turn on her and say she is the witch. After overcoming her shock, Mary panics and betrays Procter. “You’re the devils man.” Screams Mary (1150). Procter is convicted and is sent to jail. After another couple of months, Procter is conveyed that if he confesses, he will be saved. Instead of confessing he realizes something and he barks, “You have made your magic now, for now I do think I see some shred of goodness in John Procter. ”(1166). John realized that he would rather die than ruin the names of himself and his friends, he rips the paper while yelling, “Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life!” (1166).
