As a matter of fact, Mary had a step sister that was born who was named Elizabeth. Mary’s childhood got worse when Elizabeth was born. Durant stated, “After the birth of Elizabeth, Mary was declared a bastard and was shorn of her title as princess...When Elizabeth was moved to Hatfield Mary was compelled to go and serve her there and to live in the ‘worst room in the house.’ Her servants were taken from her” (587). Mary was no longer a princess. Everything happened in a snap of a finger that it seemed unreal. One day she is treated as a princess and the next day she has a step sister and her title of princess is snatched. That was a drastic change for Mary. She had to live in the worst room in the house, serve Elizabeth, and Mary had her servants taken from her. Lastly, Mary was declared a bastard. Imagine all the sadness or maybe even hatred Mary may have felt. After all of this she must have felt lonely and she had no one left for her. Her father ignored her and she was forbidden from seeing her mother. An event like this definitely impacted her adulthood especially if she felt hatred towards everyone around
