At this point in the novel, the Creature is in complete control of all aspects of Victor’s life, and the murder of Elizabeth is a prime example of this being true. When Victor looked up at the window after being down next to Elizabeth he states, “I felt a kind of panic on seeing the pale yellow light of the moon illuminate the chamber.” Naturally one would be panicking and distraught when your wife has been murdered, but Victor’s trauma here does not just appear to be mournful for Elizabeth. As soon as he began to look up at the night sky, it seems that he knew what he was going to see when he looked upwards. Victor says, “I saw at the open window a figure the most hideous and abhorred.” Victor is already seemingly aware of the Creature’s wrongdoings,
