John the Evangelist. St John the Evangelist was also known as St. John the Apostle and John of Patmos. St John had a historical significant connection with a figure many people worshipped known as Jesus. St. John was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He also was known as the author of the Gospel of John. St. John the Apostle also was known was contributing four books of the bible that can be found in the New Testament which were known as the three Epistles of John and the Book of Revelation.
One reason why I chose this art piece, “Mary Salome and Zebedee with their Sons James the Greater and John the Evangelist” to write about was because I myself am a Christian. I go to church every Sunday and I already had a little background information on St. John. Another reason why I chose this art piece was because it was painted very well and I could easily see and form a summary of the painting. Finally, a third reason why I chose this painting was so I could learn even more about a topic I’m interested in than I currently already know about the Evangelist and Apostle St.
