Mary Salome And Zebedee Analysis

The art piece I chose was titled, “Mary Salome and Zebedee with their Sons James the Greater and John the Evangelist.” This art piece titled, “Mary Salome and Zebedee with their Sons James the Greater and John the Evangelist” was painted in 1511 by the German artist Hans Suess von Kulmbach. The materials used to make this painting were oils on panels. The Mary Salome and Zebedee with their Sons James the Greater and John the Evangelist, was painted in Germany during the Renaissance art period.
The painting shows a portrait of a family with an infant identified as St. John the Evangelist sitting on his mother’s lap holding a golden cup called a chalice. This painting also shows St. John the Evangelist’s older brother named St. James the Greater holding a walking stick. John the Evangelist. St John the Evangelist was also known as St. John the Apostle and John of Patmos. St John had a historical significant connection with a figure many people worshipped known as Jesus. St. John was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He also was known as the author of the Gospel of John. St. John the Apostle also was known was contributing four books of the bible that can be found in the New Testament which were known as the three Epistles of John and the Book of Revelation.
One reason why I chose this art piece, “Mary Salome and Zebedee with their Sons James the Greater and John the Evangelist” to write about was because I myself am a Christian. I go to church every Sunday and I already had a little background information on St. John. Another reason why I chose this art piece was because it was painted very well and I could easily see and form a summary of the painting. Finally, a third reason why I chose this painting was so I could learn even more about a topic I’m interested in than I currently already know about the Evangelist and Apostle St.
